Received The Lost Librarian’s Grave Paperback Proof Copy Today

I received a proof copy of The Lost Librarian’s Grave from Amazon today with a matte cover. I’m happy with how it came out, though I do think I’m going to move the “Tales of Madness…” over to the left just a tad and the “Edited by” over a bit to the left as well, near that outside rusty talon.

I have a bunch of points on the credit card I use for Amazon, so I ordered a second copy, this time with a glossy cover. While, like I said, I’m pleased with this cover, the colors aren’t as vibrant as I expected. Amazon says that the glossy covers tend to have more vibrant colors, so we’ll see.

Also, I went with cream-colored paper instead of the white paper for the second copy, so I could see the difference. I probably wouldn’t have gone to all of this trouble if I didn’t have the points.

I’ll post again when I get the second copy and the paperback will go live soon after that. In the meantime, for those who prefer to read ebooks, the anthology can be read for free with Kindle Unlimited and of course can be all yours for $4.99, though I’ll probably be doing a sale soon.

  1. Thank you, John. 🙂

I went back in and did those shifts and reuploaded the paperback cover to Amazon. Hopefully, it’ll look a bit better this time.

I’m very much looking forward to seeing how the glossy cover looks. I went through my collection of 6″ x 9″ paperbacks and noticed that the glossy ones do look more vibrant than the matte finishes. I’ve noticed the same thing finishing miniatures too, though I usually opted for matte because I always felt like the things I painted didn’t look right glossy excepting slime, tentacles, and the like of course.

I also noticed that a lot of my genre books have white pages but more of them have cream-colored pages. I was going to go with cream-colored originally but I forgot to check that option with the first book. It’ll be nice to see a physical example each way, though I think the white pages look fine.

Everything is going well, thank you, hope you are having a good November as well. Been busy flogging the book and trying to decide what the next anthology is going to be about.

Also started up coin collecting again, which I haven’t done in years. My mother sent me most of my old collection in the mail from Maine not too long ago and it reignited my interest in the hobby.

  2. Looks good, Ann! 🙂 I think I’d left-shift the text you’ve mentioned as well. Cream-coloured pages sound good as well. My experience with old wargames figures in gloss varnish would seem to be on the lines of what Amazon have said and I find the colours look much deeper. Hope all is well with you! 🙂
